Iwould like to thank the faculty and my fellow students who were so patient on picture-taking days and who aided us in our search for subscribers and information . As you glance through the carefully-planned pages of this book, l hope that you may recall all the happy memories of your activities and those of your friends and classmates. I hope that your Rudder will give you as many hours of pleasure as it has already given to me in its preparation . ninlmiloe DAVID JllHN llII'l'llN IllllllUll'l'lllll MESSAGE We, the Rudder Staff of l957, proudly and happily dedicate our yearbook to David John Dippon, who would have been a member of this graduating class. He was the star center on the grade school basketball team and was active in many school activities. Everyone who knew him was attracted to his friendly manner and to his casual grin . His untimely passingon May 30, l952, was deeply felt by all, but he will always be remembered as a member of our class. ' II IIIIIIII 'IAFF IIFFICIAL MARY ELAINE MOREHART .... The board exercises administrative functions in providing for necessary teachers, building, and for equip- ment. The superintendent serves as the board's executive officer and professional advisor. The consistency with which our public schools have fostered American traditions and the American concept of a government of free men is a tribute to the thousands of school board members who have functioned under our local autonomy while preserving national unity. lll'lllllll'lllllllENT v l.w'f'?5l7Uvm if rlmr. with .i .mul usual In . There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignoranceg that imitation is suicide. A man is relieved and gay when he has puthis heart into his work and done his bestg but what he has said or done otherwise shall give him no peace. Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. It is easy in the world to live after the world's opiniong it is easy in solitude tolive after our owng but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of soli- tude. party. is --RALPH WALDO EMERSON 51 - m---re-me V was me-an mmwf O 4-44-v N 'll ' l' 5354, .
