He and his family moved to New Albany, Miss., where he spent most of his childhood. In 1972, he graduated from W.P. Daniels High School in New Albany, Miss., and enlisted in the U.S. Navy four months later. 1 Master Chief Barry attended basic training at the Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla. After graduation, he started his Navy adventure in Patrol Squadron Forty-Five, homeported in Jacksonville, Fla. From there he went to Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Fla. In 1978, he was assigned to his first real sea duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal CCV 595 Then, in March 1982, he accepted assignment to Commander, Training Air Wing One, in Meridian, Miss. U On Sept. 16, 1984, he was advanced to chief petty officer, and in June 1986 he reported to USS Inchon CLPH 125. At the end of that three-year tour, he transferred to Naval Air Station Memphis, Millington, Tenn. In addition to being a Special Assistant to the Commanding Officer, his most re- warding job was establishing a viable Adopt-A-School program with White Station Elementary School in Memphis. ' In March 1993 he reported to USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CCVN 695 as Supply Department's leading chief petty officer. After being on board for approximately a year-and-a-half, he was selected by the Commanding Officer as IKE's Command Master Chief. Master Chief Barryis decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal Ctwo awards5, Good Conduct Medal Cfive awards5, Nation Defense Service Medal Ctwo awards5, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon Ctwo awards5. Master Chief Barry and his wife, the former Debbie Villane Williams, have been married for 18 years. They presently reside in Milton, Fla., with their son, Vinson.

CAPT Gregory G. Johnson, a native of Westmanland, Maine, graduated in June 1968 from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. Entering Aviation Officer Candidate School in October 1968, he h was commissioned an Ensign in February 1969. Following flight training, he was designated a naval aviator in May 1970. ' . CAPT Johnson commenced his initial sea duty assignment in Attack Squadron SIX SIX CVA-665 flying the A-7E Corsair II aircraft and twice deployed as a component of Carrier Air Wing Seven CCVW-75 embarked in USS Inde- pendence CCV 625. He then attended the Command and Staff Course, Naval War College, Newport, R.I., graduating with highest distinction in June 1975. His next tour took him to the Systems Analysis Division COP-965 of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations until 1978. In the fall of 1978, CAPT Johnson began a department head tour in Attack Squadron EIGHT SIX CVA- 865, deploying in USS Nimitz CCVN 685 as a component of Carrier Air Wing Eight CCVW-85. For the next two years he served as the Operations Officer of the A-7E fleet replacement squadron, Attack Squadron ONE SEVEN FOUR CVA-1745. . ' V g In November 1983, CAPT Johnson reported to Attack Squadron ONE ZERO FIVE CVA-1055 as Executive Of- ficer and deployed to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, as a component of Marine Air Group TWELVE CMAG-125. He as- sumed command of VA-105 in May 1985 and returned the squadron to carrier operations deploying as a component of Carrier Air Wing SIX CCVW-65 embarked in USS Forrestal CCV 595. In 1986 he commenced a one-year tour as the F!A-18!A-7 Readiness Officer on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. CAPT Johnson reported to CVW-6 in September 1988 as the Deputy Commander and again deployed in USS Forrestal CCV 595. From June 1990 through December 1991 he was assigned to the Joint Staff and served as head of the European Command!Central Command Branch of the Joint Operations Division CJOD5, Operations Directorate CJ-35, during Operations Desert ShieldfDesert Storm. In January 1992, he was assigned as the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he served until October 1993. He assumed command of Carrier Air Wing Three on 15 April 1994. He was selected for promotion to rear admiral in February 1995 and turned over command of CVW-3 in March 1995. His next duty assignment will be as Director of Operations and Plans on the staff of Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Va. CAPT J ohnson's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal Cwith two Gold Stars5, Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal. He has accumulated over 4,700 hours of tactical jet flight time and 1,100 carrier landings. CAPT Johnson is married to the former Joy J ewett of Bucksport, Maine. They have two daughters, Sydney and Ashley.
