Refresher Training, or RefT ra, is a two-week period that car- ries the crew through the Worst of contingencies. Fire, flooding, mass casual- ties and non-stop enemy threats fill each day. With the help and critical examination of the Fleet Training Group, IKE's crew tack- led each battle obstacle, evalu- ated their efforts and squared off against the next problem. By mid-Week, the level of expertise was steadily rising. Damage Control Central and the damage control teams evolved into an efficient force ready to face any threat. FTG trainers cast the same critical eye on communications, navigation, flight deck opera- tions and various other elements necessary to make IKE battle ready. 34
