Captain William F. BREWER was born in 1913 in Henderson, N. C. and graduated from Davidson Col- lege, Davidson, N. C. in 1935. He was commissioned an Ensign and designated a Naval Aviator in October, 1937. His first assignment was Engineer- ing Officer of Patrol Sguadron TWO engaged in scouting exercises. At the height of World War ll, Captain BREWER was assigned to Fleet Air Wing SEVEN as Operations Officer, and sub- sequently Executive Officer, CVPB103. During his long and distinguished career he has served as Officer in Charge of Crew Training, Naval Air A Station, Huchinson, Kansas, Command- ing Officer of Patrol Bomber Squadron 107, Detachment, Okinawa, Detail Officer, Office Bureau of Naval Personnel, Executive Officer Atlantic, Staff, Naval War College, Executive xw A f ' -1-ff "' t 7 . Operations Officer of Fleet Air Wing 17, OinC of Fleet Air Wing of the 'Chief of Naval Operations, Aviation Planning Officer, and Commanding Officer of Fleet Airborne Electronics Unit, Officer of the USS VALLEY FORGE lCVS-451, Operations Officer, Carrier Division 18 Staff, Head of the Naval Warfare Plans Section, Chief of Naval Operations, and prior to assuming his duties as Commanding Officer of the USS DUXBURY BAY lAVP-381 attended the National War College. Captain BREWER's awards include both the European and Pacific Campaigns, Air Medal with two l2l Oak Leaf Clusters, Naval Unit Citation and the Order British Empire lOBEl.
