Language Department i i Miss jean Baker B.A. 'George Washington University French I French Club, A.F.S. To enable students to speak, understand, read and write another language is the goal of the Foreign Language Department at DuVal. Extensive courses in Spanish, French, German, and Latin are offered. As students become familiar with a foreign language, teachers strive to promote interest in and understanding of, not only the language, but also the culture of the country. This year two new societies, the Spanish Honor Society and the French Honor Society, were established at DuVal. To be eligible for membership, a student must have a superior grade average in his language classes while maintaining an overall standing of B or better. The language clubs only limit their membership to students taking a language, and student participa- tion is very high. 3 Mrs. Sarah M.
