Social Studies Department The cultural and historical backgrounds of mankind are studied in Wforld History. This course attempts to deal with the problems and events of the past that have shaped the present and could influence the future. It attempts to bring about a fuller under- standing of our own cultural and historical heritage. From past to present is the field covered by American History, This course is a greater supplement to earlier courses in its attempt to cover our background in greater depth. It associates the events in the past that now shape our present course and that will continue to shape it in the future. Problems of Democracy attempts to give us insight into our government and the means by which it operates. In World Geography, the physical aspects of a country's development are covered. This gives a greater under- standing of physical problems encountered in a country's development. An elementary course in Psychology is offered to Seniors, which aids the students in understanding themselves and others.
