Through various parties Creveillionj, guest speakers, visits to the French Embassy, Georgetown language school, and a French church, the club strives to develop an interest in French, in terms of fluency, culture, and cus- toms. Sponsored by Mrs. Law, the French students under the leadership of David Annin planned the Christmas bulletin boards in the classrooms and led discus- sions at the French church. The Spanish Club members do, and they have a hall seeing the Spanish Culture in action with the help of movies, parties, pinatas, and field trips. This year officers President Peggy Griffith, V. President Elsa Tarres, Sec. Kathy Mealy and Treas, Betty Rice are hoping to raise money, through bake sales, car washes, and their project for all DuVal Day, to send a student to Mexico during the summer. A new chapter of the National organization now formally established as the National Spanish Honor Society has been included in DuVal's honorary groups. The purpose of the Society is to recog- nize high achievement in Spanish by students of a secondary school who will promote a continual interest in Hispanic studies. This year the club had many activities, among them guest speakers and special programs. Make soap from fat? It sounds wild, but that's how it's done.
