The Deutsche that make up the Ger- man Club are really loyal DuValians with a hearty interest in the German language. President Bill Haskell and the other officers arrange activities hav- ing to do with the German culture for which there is not time in regular class hours. These activities include movies and slides, trips to a German restaurant and a county-wide Fashings Dance. One of the most popular and profitable ac- tivities is the Drinking Booth main- tained on All DuVal Day. A typical day at DuVal? Not quite, as Latin Club members present an ancient Roman scene at Language night. fi Mlit J The Latin Club consists of two consuls, Ben Rob- ertson and Karen Minick, and members of the Latin classes who are interested in learning more about the Greco-Roman heritage. Through various activi- ties such as the Saturnalia students get acquainted with ancient Roman cus- toms and Greek cere- monies. Sponsored by Mrs. Knox, these romanized DuValians are able to hear a lecture on Myths of the Sky and attend the state Junior Classical League. The biggest event of the year is the popular Roman Banquet. Proper patricians can use their plebian pals for slaves in the MP ban- quet hall.

The Spanish Club members do, and they have a hall seeing the Spanish Culture in action with the help of movies, parties, pinatas, and field trips. This year officers President Peggy Griffith, V. President Elsa Tarres, Sec. Kathy Mealy and Treas, Betty Rice are hoping to raise money, through bake sales, car washes, and their project for all DuVal Day, to send a student to Mexico during the summer. A new chapter of the National organization now formally established as the National Spanish Honor Society has been included in DuVal's honorary groups. The purpose of the Society is to recog- nize high achievement in Spanish by students of a secondary school who will promote a continual interest in Hispanic studies.
