The DuVal chapter of the Na- tional Honor Society is the highest honor a student can receive in high school. The purpose of this organization is to create an en- thusiasm for scholastic achieve- ment, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership and responsibility and to encourage the development of good character. Besides being an honor group, NHS is also a serv- ice organization sponsoring the fall Homecoming Game and Dance and ushering for the graduation of the Senior class. The Honor Society has both a fall and spring induction when Seniors and Juniors who have shown the characteristics of an NHS student, are tapped and recognized for their achievements. Not quite, as Latin Club members present an ancient Roman scene at Language night. fi Mlit J The Latin Club consists of two consuls, Ben Rob- ertson and Karen Minick, and members of the Latin classes who are interested in learning more about the Greco-Roman heritage. Through various activi- ties such as the Saturnalia students get acquainted with ancient Roman cus- toms and Greek cere- monies. Sponsored by Mrs. Knox, these romanized DuValians are able to hear a lecture on Myths of the Sky and attend the state Junior Classical League. The biggest event of the year is the popular Roman Banquet. Proper patricians can use their plebian pals for slaves in the MP ban- quet hall.
