A rare moment of inactivity tudent Council Executive Committee The Student Council Executive Committee consists of officers: President Dave Devlin, Vice President Lew Lanham, Corresponding Secretary Kathy Loulan, Recording Secretary janet Xlifade, Treasurer Barbara Lathroum, and Parliamentarian Bill Haskell. All of these officers are elected by the student body at the end of the school year. Besides planning the agenda for representative meetings and putting new proposals into some kind of a workable blueprint, the President, backed by the other officers, appoints standing committee chairmen. The DuVal chapter of the Na- tional Honor Society is the highest honor a student can receive in high school. The purpose of this organization is to create an en- thusiasm for scholastic achieve- ment, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership and responsibility and to encourage the development of good character. Besides being an honor group, NHS is also a serv- ice organization sponsoring the fall Homecoming Game and Dance and ushering for the graduation of the Senior class. The Honor Society has both a fall and spring induction when Seniors and Juniors who have shown the characteristics of an NHS student, are tapped and recognized for their achievements.
