American Field Service is Slafzjing: Miss Baker, Lorraine Buonviri, Linda Osler, Glenna Ashley, Kathy Smith Sealed: Murai Shigeshi, Griffith, Kitty Edens So what's AFS? AFS, or the American Field Service, tries to promote better international relations and understanding through the students of this country and foreign countries. The AFS sponsors both a foreign exchange student and a DuValian hoping for a chance to spend a year overseas. This year's exchange student, Nelson Faundez, is a native of Chileg his counterpart abroad is Evan Parker, a '66 graduate who is now living in Italy. Hopeful candidates for next year's program are Seniors Ruth Lehman and Peggy Ludeman. The AFS club raises the money for these students, so Peggy Griffith, the president, and other club members sponsor bakesales and other fund-raising projects. Through sports coverage, scholastic and extra, curricular news, editorials, gossip and the lastest rumors, and letters to the editor, the paper does a good job of representing all phases of school life. When the paper has finally gone to press, the editors can take a short break and watch all of the satisfied students who sit in class and read their treasured DuValians.
