Guidance Department Existing for the benefit of DuVal's students, the Guidance Department is available to any student seeking advice or aid. For sophomores, the department helps them get acquainted with all that the school has to offer while readying them for two more years at DuVal. For juniors, the counselors continue their accurate and complete records of every student's scholastic and extracurricular progress. They also help students in choosing the schedule which best suits their needs and talents. For seniors, the guidance offers assistance in the selection of and applica- tion to appropriate colleges. The counselors keep students informed about col- lege examinations and representatives while supplying booklets and catalogues about colleges. The department also sponsors the highly successful College Night for interested students and parents. A vocational counselor has been added this year to supply our students' needs 'L . -T- for locating jobs. Without the Administration, DuVal would not be the school it is today. In fact, DuVal would have a hard time even existing if Mr. Chase, Mr. Parry, Mr. Smith, and Mrs. Beveridge were not there to keep everything running smoothly. Mr. Chase, DuVal's Principal, is responsible for the over-all supervision of the school. Now he has the extra duty of planning the expansion program. One of his more important responsibilities is being our school's representative on both state and local levels. Mr. Smith heads the Guidance Department and it is his duty to make the master schedule for 2600 students. The purchasing of all textbooks and equipment also is under his supervision. Mr. Parry serves as attendance and discipline moderator. Also under his guidance are building and grounds supervision. Mr. Theodore Lewis, DuVal's new fourth Vice-principal, was formerly a biology teacher and coach. His duties include supervision of the hallways and buses. He also is responsible for attendance, direction of the cafeteria, social events and discipline. Responsible for all student activities is Mrs. Beveridge. She has the monumental task of planning the club program, the games, the public address system, the PTA program, and supervising all school publicity. Together they make up the Administration of DuVal. We hope that with the expansion of DuVal they will continue making our school a finer educational institution.
