Dear Students, I consider it an honor to again be associated with the Durant High School, its student body and faculty and to be a part of an organization whose objectives are to improve the educational opportunities for boys and girls of this community. Sputnil s. Explorers, etc. , have awakened us to the demands of a world of tomorrow in which education must play a vital role if we are to survive the age into which we are being thrust. I challenge you to rise to the best that is within you that you may find your niche in helping to build a better world for yourselves and for the generations of boys and girls yet unborn.

Dear Students, You are completing another school year and are to be congratulated for it. Many of your classmates have dropped out of school but you have continued, thus increasing your opportunities for further education, eco- nomic gain for yourselves, and usefulness to your country. One hundred thirteen pupils graduated from high school last year out of a class of 266 who entered the first grade in 1947. This means that 57 out of each hundred or over half dropped out before graduating from high school. Forty t lire e out of each hundred continued their education to grad- uate from high school. So you are to be commended for staying in school. It is my hope and the hope of all your teachers that you continue in school as long as you may profit by it. J iaA£.c .A..pU y
