SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Turning back the clock of time, we find ourselves being pushed and shoved like any other sophomore class. At our first class meeting we elected the officers for the year. They were Tom Davis, Presidentg Blake Benham, Vice- President, Kristine VVard, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Novy and Mr. Morrison were elected sponsors. The theme for the Sophomore Prom was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Gradually we learned to push and shove right back and found our- selves Iuniors. Our Junior Class Officers were Tommy Bennett, Presidentg Larry Edwards, Vice-President, Sharon Baer, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Dilley and Mr. Moeny were elected sponsors. This year we sponsored the only prom of the year and chose as our theme Neopolitian Nights. Ah! The big pushers and shovers at last! We entered our senior year with Larry Edwards, Presidentg llolm Cook, Vice-Presidentg Bill Miernyk, Treasurerg Karen Myers, Secretaryg and Carla Miller, Sergeant at Arms. Mr. Hollar and Mr. Brown were given the honor of sponsoring the class of '59. One of our first activities was to dress ourselves fit to kill and take over the school for Tacky Day. Then, as our minds turned toward the future, we found ourselves listening to the professors from different schools as they called at DHS for College Day. The seniors sponsored a wonderful Homecoming Dance for football season where Kay Cunningham was crowned queen. Patty Haffey and Nancy Wong were her attendants. The class was prominently displayed when the Drama De- partment did The Skin of Our Teeth as the first play of the year. The big event was the Basketball Homecoming where Jackie Prior reign- ed as queen with Teddy Wilson and Joanne Havel as her attendants. Last, but not least, we come to the Case of the Vanashing Seniors. Running around in our bermuda shorts, taking pictures of anything and anybody that happened to come into range of our camera lens, laughing, giggling, and drink- ing pop, we had a wonderful Senior Sneak Day. The year was appropriately topped off when Edith Ann McGregor and julie McKenzie were announced as the top students of the Class of '59. Blake Benham was chosen Mr. Athlete by the coaches. Remembering all these things as we walk across the stage to receive our diplomas and to shake the hand of Mr. Buckley, we know that we have received first class tickets to the future and success.
