Stanley Walker, Louis Baudino, Steve Ryan There are approximately 180 D. H. S. students enrolled in one or more music organizations this year. In addition to the usual band, orchestra, and glee clubs, several vocal ensembles have been organized '21 girls trio, a quartette, sextette, and a mixed group called the 4 X 8's. These vocal ensembles, together with the larger choral groups, have been under the direction of Shirley Hawley. Mrs. Hawley has concentrated on bringing to her classes a sense of fun as well as ac- complishment: students, she believes, should sing and love it. The band and orchestra have done more than their share of good work this year, too. On March 4, the annual spring Band Concert was given, on April 2, the Band attended the Montelores Band Day at Cortez, and on April 18, this group maneuvered and played in the annual Fine Arts Festival. Besides these usual activities, the Band participated in various non-school activities including the parade for the premier of The Naked Spur. The Orchestra helped with the annual Christmas Concert given by the choral groups, played for Fine Arts, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. Mr. Kenneth Phillippi has ably trained and directed these instrumental groups. MW Mya. 1' - 'FL ' ,,, WW' KVM l 14' W . ' W?'f M511 1 W ' 4 1 . , kr- I 5 S ? 3 e S 2 .W .W xi ss Y 'xx .
