GIRLS' PHYSICAL EDUCATIQN . . . The girls' physical education classes of Durango Senior High are to be congratulated for their partici- pation in various sports. Their Instructor, Miss Thomas, has done a wonderful job in holding the girls' interest and creating enthusiasm. The arrangement of tournaments in both volley- ball and basketball gave the girls the friendly com- petition needed for fun and genuine interest. Swimming, tennis, tumbling, and all outdoor sports, including softball, were learned, improved upon, and enjoyed. Among other things, the girls took part in the annual Gym Demonstration. The theme carried out was that of a big circus. No need to say it was high- ly successful. For the tortyeone girls in the two classes, modern dancing was the highlight. This new idea proved very successful. Not only did the girls learn new dances, but it also gave them poise and self-confi- dence. A
