THE sopuofvxoats Durango High School is proud of their Sophomore class this year. They have a membership of 160 students in their class, and the majority of these students are active in all school affairs. The Sophomores were very enthusiastic about all that they did. They added a lot to the pep of our pep rallies by building the wonderful bonfires, and helping prepare for the games. They elected as their class officers to lead them through their first year of high school life, Paul Koss, president, Iim- my Real, vice president, Rita Stratton, secretary, and Na- dine Leslie, treasurer. You've done a swell job, Sophomore class officers, and your class has thrived under your excellent leadership. Marilyn Brown and Iim Meade were the students the Sophomores chose to represent them on the Student Council. Alice Ballou and Warren Buckley were their spon- sors. After the Cortez-Durango basketball game here in Du- rango, the Sophomores sponsored a dance. It was a sure suc- cess. Another dance, sponsored by the Sophomores, and the one which they were very proud of was their Sophomore Prom. The theme was Harbor Lights, and they had it car- ried out so effectively that everyone seemed in a dreamy-eyed, but not too dreamy to have lots of fun. To end their activities this year, and to put a glorious ending on their Sophomore year, they went to Trimble Springs for swimming and a picnic.
