This motto which so many try to fol- low, well exelnpliries the actions of this honorable class. VVe started, as all must start, as freshmen in the bleak winter of l929Kg. Little did we realize the extent of the responsibilities that were to rest on our shoulders. Tackling the job as all men should tackle it we were reinforced in February IQSOM by a group of go-getters from the various junior high schools. VVe have cun- tinued as an augmented Class until we have reached that great pinnacle of perfection, the half way mark. lt is with pride that we look back over the last two years. The attainments of the school in all branches of activity have given us just cause for satisfac- tion. It is with anticipation of still greater achievements that we look up the ladder towards that topmost rung. graduation! Recently we held our lirst class meeting, and big business was afoot in the form of election of class officers and the purchasing of rings, Certain things make up the perfect class. Let lls list these things and ascer- tain whether we are what we claim to he. VVe have students, athletes, puh- lic spirited fellows, and all the other requirements for a perfect class. There- fore the natural conclusion would be that we are perfect. VVell, we can at least tell the Freshmen and Sophomores such. VVhen that bright day dawns and we find ourselves seniors, we will look hack with pleasant memories to those days when we were English Fives par ex- cellence. BILLY ARTHUR. The Mitre Club started out in September with the following officers President Leroy Rapp' Vive-President Hilary llouston' Treasurer, Ray YVat song Recording Secretary, Craddy Richard' Corresponding Secretary, Rav llatterg and Sergeant-at-Arms. Ned Booker. The Club had a most successful term under the direction of these vapable ofiicers. One initiation was held during, the first term when a fine bunch of fellows were taken in. These nten jumped right in where the old graduates of the ell left olf, l ing their part with a will. The Mitre Club again did it, part in advertising Manual and promoting school-spirit by selling stickers, and red and white feathers. The student hotly gave its heartiest support by buying a goodly number of each. The Cheer leader contest was held by the Club and three faithful cheer-leaders were chosen for the football season. On 'Thanksgiving Day the Mitre Club ag contributed its part by having white pigeons with red ribbons Hy over th stands. 1 Szfzwiily-xr'-t'nn A Av. 4 .TXXXXXYAXXXAXXXXXXXXYXAXAAAX :lei I I-t ,'k,'- ,' ' ' 't , t s 5 t 1 o s I x C D it f s ' I ' v sf TPZF P'? r .. Eleven years ago Manual was just another school athletically, and Mr. Arntson was just another graduate of the University of Minnesota. Now' Manual is the proud possessor of one of the country's finest high school foothall plants and athletic reputations: and Mr. Arntson is recognized :ts the mnn who has pulled this great old school up to that peak. the present day, Neal Arntson has led our teams through victories and defeats. But his highest achievement has been in showing us the way to he a good wine ner and II good loser. May we never forget his teaching.
