Uur Guides 'D Xa P, -ul To the class of 1955 I pen this parting message with a high degree of hope and confidence in your future careers. You have shown evidence of superior achieve ment as a classg your conduct has been exemplaryg and your loyalty above reproach It has been a real pleasure to have been associated with you for a period of three years. To see you go forth from the portals of Dunbar saddens me to a degree, for I have grown to respect and admire you. As graduates of Dunbar High School you inherit the mantle of thousands of sons and daughters who have preceded you. They have carried the banner high and made the name of Dunbar a noble one by their fine accomplishments all over the world. IVith this proud heritage, I have no fear that you will nurture it and that it will blossom and become more fruitful as the years pass by. The opportu nities are manifold for you to add increased laurels to your Alma Mater. I have every faith that this will be done. May your blessings be many and your future bright and prosperous. ,Q Q K f Lx J e PRINCIPAL 6 MRS. GI..-XDYS XV. The Contest closed with a rous- ing assembly at which time the winner and run- ners-up were presented to the student body. Miss Elaine Hardy, the winner, was showered with many beautiful gifts. Other contestants received lovely and useful gifts. Miss Hardy was frowned queen by Henry lVedlock, captain of the bas- ketball team, before the Bates-Dunbar game. The Crimson Tide's driving spirit drew exclam- ations of praise at all their games this year. In many of our games, that fighting team spirit came through to hold that line. Most outstanding and exciting among the season games were the Dunbar vs. Parker-Gray, Dunbar vs. Phelps and Dunbar vs. Henry High. The game between Dunbar and Hen- ry was made even more colorful and spectacular by the presentation of Miss Dunbar and her court. l moan WAP UMW BASKETBALL TEAM - Kneeling: Fornel Longus, Mr. L. J. The newspapers heralded the spectacular performances of those marvelous jones Boys, Johnny Jones, and William jones. These two, although they are not related, scored many baskets for Dunbar. Charles Jackson, Charles Jenkins, Charles Bell and Thomas Booze were also high point men for the team. Henry lVedlock, the team's very able and illustrious captain, kept the fiery spirit of the team burning. Not to be out done by the football team, the basketball team presented Miss Basketball to the student body during the Dunbar vs. Bates game.
