THE MIXED CHOIR The Mixed Choir under the supervi- sion of Miss Venorus Williams, is com- posed of boys and girls who love to sing. Many memorable impressions have been left by this group. It works continually with assembly programs, Christmas pro- grams, community church services, and often supports activities of other school organizations. THE SCIENCE CLUB The age of Science is recognized through the activities of this group. They have co-ordinated this extra-curricular activity with formal studies and have de- veloped a much broader concept of the changing conditions of our time. Exper- imentation, research, lectures, visitation, and the inter exchange of findings have contributed to their scientific growth. Graduating members are: Helen Jester, Barbara Clark, Beverly Anderson, Bar- bara Barnes, Harriett Perry, Laura Mc- Cullough, Gertrude Cornish, Shirley Hounshell, Clarence Campbell, Willie Fos- ter, William Singletary, and john Harris. 5 4 g FUTURE NURSES CLUB Mrs. Beradine Harrison and Mrs. Edith Benford meet with this group of young ladies every Thursday afternoon. At these meetings films are shown, proper methods of taking temperature and pulse are learned, and items dealing with the home and related subjects are discussed. ACTIVITIES STUDENT COUNCIL An institution that is truly representa me of our American way of life must have each segment of its structure form- ally represented. The Student Council, a democratic organization performs an im- portant scrvice in the school. It reviews the problems of fellow students and strives to offer intelligent solutions. At the same time the Council works directly with the faculty and administration for the betterment of prevailing conditions. These seniors have faithfully served in the building of a bigger and better Dun- bar. I x I x . is , sr. N i n A A A ALLIED YOUTH CLUB The Allied Youth Club, under the sponsorship of Mr. Watkins, is an organ- ization established to prove to the youth of Dunbar that life can be so enjoyable and constructive without using intoxi- cants. The annual agenda consists of sen- ior assembly programs, a trip to Buck Hill Falls, a bus excursion, awards and medals to members doing outstanding acts during the school year. Graduating officers are: Charles Mason, President and Hilda Six, Vice President. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY This group is representative of the re- spect that society has for those who strive to succeed through hard work. While en- joying high school experiences to the ut- most, still they have not lost sight of the ultimate, academic achievement. The graduating members are: Shirley Perry, Elaine Douglas, Maudestine McLeod, Gloria Kilgore, Clarence Campbell, Ger- trude Cornish, and Mary Graves.

THE UNITED NATIONS YOUTH The United Nations Youth Club, under the sponsorship of Mr. Herman Bainder and Mrs. Catherine Law, consists of stu- dents interested in world affairs and hu- man relations. The purpose of this or- ganization is to prepare students to be well informed citizens of a country that is a member of the United Nations to develop a spirit of co-operation and un- derstanding of the young people of other countries, and to give to those young people of other countries who need it all the aid in our power. 9 PAULINE L. WARTONS GIRLS' CLUB Under the sponsorship of Miss Mildred Williams, this wonderful musical group sponsors many assembly programs here at Dunbar and at many other schools throughout the city. It is responsible for the Christmas and Easter programs and often appears actively at many churches and other civic organizations. The grad- uating officers are: Annie Phillips, Pres- ident, Mary Graves, Secretary, Maudestine McLeod, Treasurer, Patsie Lyle, Gloria Kilgore, and Patricia Callicut, Librarians. I4 FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA The Carrington L. Davis Future Teach- ers of America is an organization which consists of prospective teachers of Amer- ica. Its primary concerns are to better acquaint its members with a general un- derstanding of the teaching profession and to steer more students towards the teach- ing profession. The graduating members are: Jacqueline Pringle, Harriett Eggle- ston, Maxine Brown, Sandra jones, Elaine Douglas, Carolyn Tate, Maudestine Mc- Leod, Marguerite Todd, Patsie Lyle.
