What Have Twelve Years Alice Having completed twelve years of schooling it is only natural to look back and take inventory How have these years benefited us? Dunbar like a fairy godmother draws students within its halls of learning by some beckoning finger of hope by some belief by some vision by some expectation of a better kind of life Within its walls we have dreamed dreams which the school has onspared us to believe we brought with us We have learned some History some Geography and some principles of experiments In Chemistry to blsect some animals In Science Being exposed to Spanish French and Latin one would be able to follow trends of a conversation in any of these languages The English skulls have helped us to show some definite Improvement With a sharp eye on the figures of the young people of our school the Physical Education teachers have nnstructed us In the advantages that can be derived from exercise and posture Our Mathematics teachers have shown us ways of Schooling Done for Us Wtlklns to figure out our own problems and budgets We have been impressed by our Home Economics teachers with the necessity of being able to cook clean and sew Finally our Vocational Guidance Counselors have helped us plan our future After twelve years in Dunbar I dare say that one has met every type of person he us likely to meet un life We have learned to understand them While the experience of twelve years have shaped our destlnltes they have may not certainly shaped our characters to some degree We get some things that we have learned but may for they can be remedied simply by looking into textbooks but not so with character Through twelve years of experience we have developed something that will neither be forgotten nor land aside for it has become Integrated unto our beings nt is lust as much a part of us as our breath :ng These twelve years have given us a lewel of infinite value a lewel that outshmes all others They have given us character The Youthful Surgeons Vlvlan Teal The youth in hugh school can be likened to the medical student The medical student learns to recognize and cure Illnesses of the body he learns skulls in the removal of destructive growths or the healing of serious wounds The hugh school student learns to recognize the Illnesses of society The skulls he learns are to cure the sncknesses of ignorance and Intolerance Has Instruments are knowledge and understandung of others and with these he will cut out the cancerous growth of preluduce and hate Thus each year millions of young social surgeons having been thoroughly trained through practical and meanung ful experiences go out into the world and proceed to practice the most needed doctrine of all good citizenship Having fulfilled all necessary high school require ments and never losing faith in himself and human ity the hugh school surgeon makes desirable con trubutnons towards making his community a more socially healthy place to live 0 1 1 , . 1 1 1 1 1 ' . . .
