The Burning Flames of Our Success Bernice Tubman At last that long awaited day has arrived- Graduation. We have followed in our brother or sister's inspiring footsteps. Have they really been our inspiration? Who should be invited to stand and share the applause after we march off the stage? To me our parents have been our shining star guid- ing towards reaching our goal. It was mother who didn't attend club meeting because she wanted to help us with our homework, who fixed our break- fast every morning when she could have been lying in bed, who sacrificed her Xmas coat for our prom gowns. lt was father who worked overtime to give us financial aid, who gave us money for books and gym clothes that we needed or have lost. Both parents gave us love, happiness, cherished moments and encouraging words. They have built us up where we were torn down and strengthened us where we were weak. All through the years, the thirteen long years, their dreams have been ful- filled as well as ours. We can never do enough to thank our parents! Graduation isn't enough. Let us continue to strive to become future, dependable leaders. Let us thank God for our parents who are indeed the Burning Flames of Our Success.
