Dulles has its scholars and ath- letes, now it has politicians, tool Twelve seniors turned from their studies to politics and county govern- ment when they took part in a County Youth Day Program, Monday, March 23. During the youth government pro- gram sponsored by the Ft. Bend Ameri- can Legion, the students visited the County Courthouse in Richmond and viewed the functions of various county offices. This program was organized to allow students from the county's four high schools to fill a county govern- ment position as student officer for one day. Six offices were assigned to Dulles and students to fill these offices were elected by Mrs. Frances King's civics and economics classes, The winners and runners-up visited the court house, Monday, Those elected were: County Sheriff Paul Horn, winner, and Travis Gandy, runner-upg County Clerk-Anita Cloyd, winner, and Pam Schmidt, runner-up, Commissioner Pct. 4153-Kenneth Dinges, L, Agnello, P.Schmidt, I. Hamlin, winner, Johnny Bailey, runner-up, County Tax Collector and Assessor- Jerry Naill, winner, Lucy Agnello, runner-up, Drainage Officer-Jim Ham- lin, winner, Bobbie Howard, runner- up, Civil Defense, Red Binford, winner Bobby Husbands, runner-up. The campaigns were held last Wed. March 19, with the election on Thurs. March 19. The candidates handed in statements of their qualifications to Mrs. King Tuesday March 17. The winners were announced Thursday.
