State Playoff On December 21, 1963 at Waco, Texas, we met to determine the AA State Football Cham- pionship. Our opposition was the favored Rockwall Yellow Jackets. From the opening kickoff, which we received, it was a grimly fought battle every literal inch of the way. The half found the score dead-locked O-0. In the third quarter Ralph Senior broke loose for three substantial gains which he climaxed by crossing the goal for our first and only score. Our attempts at conversion failed. Doggedly through the fourth quarter we maintained our 6-O lead. Then---the bombshelll With 35 seconds remaining Rockwall threw a desperation, 4th down pass which tied the scorel Then they converted. Shaking our heads in disbelief, we felt like the fabled bad dream . . . perhaps it hadn't really happened . . . perhaps we weren't really there. At any rate, it was a game in which players and spectators alike ran an emotional gamut--from complete elation to utter dejection--as the accompany ing photographs so poignantly depict.

HONDO-0 DULLES - 9 A 23 yard field goal by Ralph Senior put Dulles' first 3 points on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Returning from the half, Red Binford hit Bill Tise for a 38 yard scoring pass. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter and Dulles retained its 9-0 lead. LIBERTY - O DULLES -20 The bigger they are, the harder they fall! The Vikings were out-weighed at every position by the 240 pound Panther defensive line, but surely not out-played. Charles Hauerland scored the first two touchdowns by brute strength and determination. Ralph Senior made the final score which cinched the semi-final championship. PALACIOS - O DULLES - 19 A Palacios fumble, recovered by Dulles set up Charles Hauerland's touchdown. Just before the half, Ralph Senior climaxed several good runs by crossing the goal line. The third touchdown was added by quarter- back, Red Binford in the fourth quarter. Ralph Senior's conversion brought the final score to 19-O. SINTON -20 DULLES - 30 Ralph Senior made the spotlight at Victoria and scored 24 points against the Sinton Pirates. Charles Hauer- land scored the remaining six points and added much necessary yardage at critical points in the game. School spirit was at its peak with this victory over Sinton to whom we lost the quarter-finals in the 1962- 63 season.
