We'll fight en all. And stand up tall. It is our quest To show the fans Our best so stand And cheer. . . I possess and use many diff'rent poses. I have potential to be pretty but painful. Making you want me more is my specialty. But I like to disappear before you can enjoy me. I have been brought dorm from many generations Sometimes carelessly spoken, I can The mighty rams are here! Scar many poeple. I am something everyone feels, wants, and needs. I could be filled with adventure, I could be full of woe, but I always have the power, to make my mind grow. Love is like a rose; sc beautiful and yet sc ugly, so sweet and yet so sour. Just like the rose, on top (what you can see) is the beauty, but yet, underneath, there can be so much pain The Unexpected Thorns Love is like sugar; you get a taste of it and you want more but it seems to melt away before you get a chance to en oy it. by Michelle Vaughn 14 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Stephanie Bryant, Connie Kurasz, Bonnie Bowles, Tena Rice. Dustin Ralston, Kent Cole. Tania Bernard, Leroy Hinnant, Jill Miller, Bill Rice. Kandi Freeman. The National Honor Society is an organization which selects and honors exceptional students. The selection process is as follows; the students must have a 3.25 overall grade point to be tapped. After they are tapped they must show by a written form that they are exceptional in leadership, character, and service. These reports are read and studied by the faculty committee which is chosen by the principal. The faculty committee then votes on the members. The fact that this is a national club makes the honor more special. The Ramshorn chapter was chartered in 1965 but was inactive for several years. It was reactivated again in 1983 by Cam Tolar, sponsor and has seen a doubling in membership each year since.'With the largest membership ever, next year promises to be the most active year yet. 15 ACADEMIC DECATHLON First row: Kandi Freeman, Jill Miller, Stephanie Bryant, Bonnie Bowles. Kent Cole. Second row: Rob Bryant. Bill Truempler, Dixie Matlack. Dustin Ralston. The students of Dubois High School participated for the first time in the Academic Decathalon with 18 other schools in Wyoming during the year of 1985-86. The results were not outstanding, but with diligence and a lot of effort we will do better in the 1987 competition. THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY CHEN ASSOCIATES, INC. Mascot: Marsha Weiss A relatively young and inex- perienced Dubois football squad produced a 2-6-0 re- cord under the leadership of quad captains Kim Kurasz, Ed Maciosek, Shane Mitchell, and Bill Rice. The Rams played some exciting games but were unable to put together a good defense and offense at the same time. The seasons high- lights were 37-16 win over Rocky Mountain at Byron and a 42-6 win over Wyoming Indi- an at Dubois. With a number of experienced returning let- termen the Rams will attempt to break back into a winning season in 1986. 23 VOLLEYBALL Micky Rowe-ALL CONFERENCE. Tanna Clark-ALL TOUR- NAMENT. When we did play up to our potential, we were as good as any team in our conference. We fell short of our goals for wins and going to state, because of this lack of consistency. I hope the members of this team will use the lessons of this season to improve their lives. The team set high standards for itself and things did not work out like we pictured. All that can be done now is to reflect back on why we did not do as well as we anticipated and be prepared to do better next time we face a similar challenge. I am proud of this team for setting high standards for itself and hope that the players will have good memories of our highlights. Good luck to the seniors in their future. Underclassmen, we have next year to look forward to, so let's be ready to go. Coach Butkovich Bill Pickett-ALL CONFERENCE GUARD 27 GIRLS BASKETBALL Front row: Coach Darling, Coach Mees. Second row: Kandi Freeman, Jill Miller, Tina Pittsley, Cathy Kane. Janet Keimig. Kristi Leseberg, Dixie Matlack, Michelle Ordway. Tanna Clark, Kerri Call, Micky Rowe, Dawn Williams. The 1986 “Lady Rams” consisted of 12 hard working athletes, that, despite only four wins, maintained a positive and competitive attitude through out the season. The 1986 team saw only one senior on the “Ram” roster (Micky Rowe). Micky was unanimous All-Conference, All-Tournament selection for the Five Rivers Conference. Several other players finished the year ranked high in individual Conference statistics. 11 of the 12 will be returning 1987, including four starters (Jill Miller, Janet Keimig, Kerri Call, Kristi Leseberg). At seasons end many of the Junior Varsity players were contributing in Varsity action. The future of Girls Basketball at Dubois High School looks promising only if those involved understand and appreciate the price that must be paid and the sacrifices that must be made to become the best. It was a real pleasure to be a part of the 1986 “Lady Rams” basketball team. Coaches Mike Mees and Kelly Darling THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY DAYLIGHT DONUTS Micky Rowe-ALL CONFERENCE. Don Meftord. Bob Fisk The wrestling season was a great success, despite the low number of participants. With only eleven wrestlers, it was very hard to do any thing in dual meets. Tournaments went very well, state tourna- ment being one of the best performances. Dubois placed 13th out of 26 schools with Bill Rice earn- ing a fourth place at state and Kim Kurasz capturing 2nd place at state. The Junior Var- sity showed a great deal of im- provement throughout the season. Coaches Ballinger and Bryant THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY BERT MILTON REALTY 30 WRESTLING 31 First row: Dawn Williams. With a goodly number of track people out, the Dubois thinclads made quite a name for themselves in the tough Five Rivers Conference. Having dual and large track meets during the season prepped the Ram track team for their final push at the conference track meet in Thermopolis and the state track meet in Casper. Several of the Ram thinclads qualified for the state meet and several school records were either challenged or broken. 32 TRACK 33 CHEERLEADERS BASKETBALL CHEERLEADERS: Connie Kurasz. Jill Miller. Coaches Corner: We had 14 girls out for the junior high volleyball team. They achieved a great deal during the year. They finished second in the conference with a 6-1 record. At the conference tourna- ment at Wind River, they really showed their stuff. The finished first at the tournament, beating the Wyoming Indians in the finals. 37 COACH’S CORNER Coaches Corner: We had 15 hard- working girls out for junior high bas- ketball. The 7th graders had their first experience with organized basketball and continued to improve throughout the year. Their highlight of the season came at the Wind River 7th Grade Tournament. They defeated Shoshoni for 3rd place. The 8th graders finished the year with a 4-3 record and placed 4th in the conference. At the confer- ence tournament, they defeated Sho- shoni for 3rd place.
