It comes forewarned; it comes in a definite pattern. Yet it comes as a mild shock to all that attend its rebirth. Participants enter robed in scarlet gowns; march to their chairs As though they were a choir summoned to sing hymns of mourning at the passing of a friend. Their friends and loved-ones stand at attention as they take their rehearsed places. Time pays no respect to this great occasion. Stillness reigns victorious over a hundred souls. Memories distill in translucent tears that dominate moments of remorse. Weep no more. Let not thy soul weep. There has been no death, only A transmigration of childhood. The scarlet cloak represents your efforts, my elders. You have guided me, trained me to choose right from wrong. You have proved faithful to me. But now I must turn elsewhere for aid. I must use what you have taught me. In a way that only I can choose. Weep not this night my faithful friend, But say a prayer for me that I might represent you well in all things. Frances Patton
