-4 . . . , C uv The History of Uiunr School Athletics are the youngest High School in the county in age of the 3 school and athletics. We were first granted a two-year High ,S School in the fall of 1926, but did not attempt to play foot- ball that year. When the winter months came on we tried to develop a basketball team, but being handicapped with only a few students it was not a great success. The following term when school opened they added another year to the High School Department, making a three-year High School. VVe also received a cc-ach who tried to develop a football team. Al- though it was our first year in football and not a full four-year school, we turned out a good football team that the school was proud of. Then came the old cage season. With a good coach we turned out two good basketball teams who won for themselves a great record. The following fall we were granted a full four-year High School and with a new and more experienced coach he developed a real foot- ball team that only met defeat o-nce that season. Then came Thanksgiving and back to basketball again. Our new coach proved himself to be an excellent coach for both boys and girls. VVhen the cage season was over we did not try to develop a base- ball team. Back to school with a new grid season which proved to be very suc- cessful from every standpoint that a team can be judged. Then came December and a new cage season. A new coach was appointed to assist in coaching basketball. She was assigned to the girls as coach.
