SENIOR CLASS HISTORY OF 58 Twelve years ago 1n September 1946 a group of scared brg eyed youngsters frled eagerly 1nto Mrs Maurree Webb s room to begrn thelr educatron Among those expectrng to learn to read and wnte that frrst day of school were Bobby Cram, Alvm Daugherty Elorse Prper June Webb Don Wheeler and Don Yelvrngton One week later the group was saddened by the loss of one of therr classmates June Webb who moyed to Star Clty We were Jorned rn the second grade by Jrmmy Deal of Ladelle and Ray Carter and Rrchard Tucker of Coleman We were glad to have June Webb of Star Crty rejorn our forces that year X delayed Chrrstmas present arrlved rn January rn the form of Rose w1l119 of Collrns Mrs Beulah Wrlmoth wa the teacher of thrs mrschrevous group Gfowtng 1n knowledge srze and number we mvaded the room of Mrs W1ll1s Cruee who was to p1lot us through the thrrd grade We were jO1IlEd ln the thrrd grade by Brlly and Bobbre Loveless of the Valley and Albert Etherrdge of Greenhrll Two of our members Rrehard Tucker and Ray Carter transferred to Myhand Mrs Grace Burchfreld our fourth grade teacher, had a hard trme gettmg the rnformatron through our th1Ck skulls but she succeeded We were jorned that year by Patty Wolfe Norma Jean Graves and Martha Jones from Prarrre Grove and Lerghton Ewell and Kenneth Smrth of the Valley Now srxteen strong we entered the frfth grade Mrs I C Andrews and Mrs Lesl1e Beard were our teachers We had a large rncrease rn number that year We were Jorned by Rrehard Tucker and Ray Carter from Myhand along w1th Shrrley Posey Mae Nell Allen and Jeanette Burnettc B1ll1e Jean harpcr came to us from Plantersvrlle and Sandra Calhoun from the ranks of the Brllles Now we re really feelmg rmportant we were Semors of the Elementary Sehool At the begrnnrng of the year we were jomed by Danny Chambers of Redfreld and Pat Mrtchell of Montongo ln March we were lorned by 1 transplanted Arkle Eleanor Wrgley from Angleton Texas lt took three teachers Mrs Lucy Harsty Mrs Grace Burchtreld and Mrs Leslre Beard to help us coast through the slxth grade Seventh graders at last' lxrth Mrs Murray Henderson and Mr Shlrley Deal as our home room teach ers we began the first half of our hlgh school educatton We fatled to attract new members e same group was together throughout that year It was excrtrng to bee,1n the elghth grade rn a beautrful new burldlng Another transplanted Arkre Marrlyn Reed Webb from Natchez Mlssrsslppr was our new member that year Mrs Jrmmy Hogue Mr Frank Brshop and Mr Shrrley Deal were our home room teachers l-hgh School at l lst' Once agarn how brg and rmportant we felt' We had a host of new addrtrons that year all transfers from Enon They were Glenda Chambers, Doye Phrllrps Bob Sanders Francrs Hartness Robert Devrne Jackre Allen and Vlrgrma Hatley Home room teachers of the freshmen were Mrs Jxmmy Hogue and Mrs Leslre Beard We took another b1g step 1n the tenth for we now had our home room 1n the study hall w1th Mrs Wrllrs Leslre for our home room teacher We had another new addrtron to the gang Onnre Chrlders from Wrlmot One of our old members B1lly Loveless wasn t w1th us that year He had Jorned forces w1th the Eagles Our hrgh school educatron was drawrng rap1dly to a close Just two short years to go' We lost another one of our members that year, Martha Jones, who mowed to McGehee That year was an exctung one f1lled w1th lots of hard work and lots of fun Mrs John Grace and Mrss Lena Iasay were our home room teachers And now we are senrors on the last lap of our Journey through hrgh school Martha Iones and Brlly Loveless have Jorned us agarn to make up our present enrollment of thrrty srx members Mr Charles Porter is our home room teacher Workmg to reach the top has been fun but th1s year IS the year we wrll remember the longest.
