All that we must do is consider the doc trines and beliefs and obgectives of any existing dictatorship and that which we find lacking is charity or love for fellow men and respect for their ideas even if we disagree with them Here in the United States where for over one hundred and sixty five years we have been independent lived freely and thought freely we have developed a greater love of our neighbor than any other nation This was a long struggle and not an easy one The Civil War period showed the way in which the negro was looked down upon in the South and treated as a lowly animal This was not charity As was proved by the Civil War a country cannot exist unless all of its man towards another P C Hamerton said The only hope of preserving what is best lies in the practice of an immense charity a wide tolerance a sincere respect for opinions that are not ours lf this were carried out primarily in the home second in the community and third in the state it would become national and ultimately world wide We would have no dictators because they represent not charity but its worst enemy egotism We would have no civil revolution within the coun tries because revolution means a conflict over differences of opinion and charity recognizes differences of opinion without conflict Therefore it is my sincere hope that we, the class of l94l may be in the future the roots of the greatest plant of brotherly love charity RAE MARY KICCINS citizens are united.
