So students elamoured for additional parking space. :Xml yet little was done to ease the eternal griping about parking and unnecessary traflie bloeks aml the time wasted trying to cross kiniyersity in the imtrningf. Surveys are now being made, aml we are study ing the problems tIior0ughIy, was the tardy explanation for the situation and ways of iniproving it. :Xnd they' are being made, too, but while numbers were being recorded on big sheets of paper by eflieient secretaries, the few existing lots turned from crowded dust bowls, to iey' wastes, to churning seas of mud and, finally, to wet beds of grayels. It takes time-that much is easily' ad- mitted. But while it takes time, it also takes good humor and the desire to eome to Drake because there's plenty of space to park away from student motorists. It was talked about perhaps to the ex- tent of starting the ball rolling toward in- provement in 1953-56 for, to quote a stereo! typed phrase, It's being worked on. LETS HOPE i' was the grades that brought smiles +0 the faces el Sylvia Sclmm and Judy Sher despite fnis- e'acVe .weather Na+ made scarves and boots necessary. Perhaps the most joyful party of the whole year was the :XTOE Coming Out party After almost a year on social probation-a year completely lack- ing in partiesfthcy' thought it was time to celebrate. And they did it, too. with glamorous babes slink- ing around the confines of the Blouse Lodge while side-burned gentlemen tried their best to keep up, iliherc were more than this, more fun and more headlines, and less worryiiig about the intellectual aspect of Drake. For. the H311 machines had come to their own on campus. and there just n'asn't anything anyone could do about grades once they hit the modern inventions -so we thoughtll lint when the day of reckoning arrived and we could go and sneakingly grab our grade reports in the Student Linion, we proved that even machines sometimes make mistakes. Wvhen a member or Klortar Board comes out with In grades points for I7 credit hours of work, some- thing must have slipped. And then there's always the perpetual thinking personality, who turned over a new leaf and came out with Sli credits for 1-l hours of classes. It was all part of the year, and so were shocks like rhe resignation of live top members of the Drake personnel staff.
