ALUMNI ASSGCIATICN MRS. XVELLS Drake alumni meet officially at the two top events of the uni- versity year, commencement and homecoming, but through the efforts of Mrs. Maydower V. Wells, alumni secretary, those graduates whose occupations find them in China, Africa and India, in short, too many railroad miles from the campus to attend re- unions, find a continuous homecoming in pages of the Alumnus, quarterly publication. pn Ranking achievements of graduates and undergraduates make up the type matter of this most widely read of university maga- zines. Prominent among other activities was the donation by the Drake Alumnae Association of funds to refurnish the Women's gymnasium. New floors, repainting, and the decoration of a rec- reation and dancing room were features of this gift. Younkers' Pompeian room was the scene of the golden jubilee banquet held Friday, November 6, in the midst of homecoming celebrations. President Morehouse introduced new faculty mem- bers, including Dr. Harry V. Masters, dean of the college of educationg Dr. Theodore Mehlin, professor of astronomy and mathematicsg Prof. Thomas Dunn, head of the English depart- ment, and Dan Carmichael, assistant professor of business ad- ministration. Assisting Mrs. NVells in Alumnus publication this year were Bessie Spiwak and Margaret Barron. ,if l

The acting aplomb of Mrs. 'Waunita Taylor Shaw, and the thunder-lunged delivery of Edwin G. Bar- rett literally bore the torch for the benefit production. Stooping to farce to rib hilariously the amateur worshippers of Thespis, the play amply spanked the fingers of the uppity under- graduate mimes who were running away with acting honors. Others in the cast included: Dean Herbert Gould, Franz Kuschan, Stanford Hulshizer, Gordon Bird, Anthony Donato, Edna Curtis Lewis, Martha Canfield, VVinifred Glass, Mrs. Helen L. Burgess and Melba Abbott,
