Coke shirts, jeans, sweaters and hats swamped the stores as people of all ages fought over the correct size. Coke is itll Where The Boys Shop What's on top always counts, but this year it counted more than ever because shirts were bigger than ever! From whites to neon brights, big shirts were coming on strong over minis, stirrups and shorts. And the best place to buy them was in your favorite department store - in the boys' section. Authentic and inexpensive, these oversized shirts were accented with bow-ties, neckties, suspenders and extra- large sweaters also found in the boys' section. To add to the menswear effect, oxfords were the shoes to wear. With socks on the outside of the pants, the beaten-up look was the most popular. Borrowed from the boysl Baroque 8: Beaunful The spirit of the baroque era made an impressive comeback. This fall's fashions were overflowing with rich textures and designs of the seventeenth century. Brocade vests, tapestry skirts and paisley jackets were everywhere. But to achieve the true baroque-look. clothes needed to be accented with big and bold antique jewelry. Here at school, brooches and paisley were the things to wear. Yes. even the guys wore paisley!!

This page is to recognize those Chargers who were Stars this year. These people and groups excelled in sports or academics or contributed to the school or community. C ha rge r S pi r it This year we had a new addition to Dow Charger spirit - The Dow High Dudes. At the Mid- land-Dow basketball game Jan. I7 they entertained us with a great pompon routine at half-time to J Giels Band's snappy song 'I Do', and with creative cheers and skits during time outs. To The Rescue Through bake sales, the Spanish Club aided desperate victims of the Mexican earthquake and Co- lumbian volcano disasters. They raised approximately S300 and donated it to the Red Cross. Can jam The National Honor Society got in the spirit of giving too by holding a jam session by the band Vis- cous Biscuits. The admission was one can goods or paper product and these items were donated to a relief agency in Pinconning. Debate At State Gerber? Wnmrv , F0005 ' The debate team of Chris Davis. Amy Braley, Brian Powers and Stacia Werst qualified for State by winning 2 out of 4 in districts. Chris Davis commented that al- though they didn't take first at State they had a lot of fun. Mathematics Dow brains were put to use this year. Kevin Chausee, Warren Nel- son. Bruce Hahne, Paul Dankoski and Michelle Gornowicz placed in the top IOO of 23,000 students who took the Michigan Math- ematics Prize Competition.
