Frosh — A 6-2 Season DHS 8 OPP 0 Boonton 22 6 Mendham 0 35 Randolph 26 6 Morris Hills 18 12 Mount Olive 12 22 Hanover Park 20 12 Par. Hills 18 6 West Morris 6 wins. 2 losses Coach Hicok with coaches Brown and Frister led the Freshman team to a 6-2 record. The team had many quality players who contributed in this year’s season. Leading offensively was halfbacks, Dave Beadle and Dan Swayze, fullback, Henry Nieves, and starting quarterback Hector Mena. Defensively, the Tigers were led by Steve Malloy, Mark Meola, Jason Fairchild, Bruce Johnson, Joe Cayero, Walt Liles, Dave Fields, Tom McConnell and Beau Fucci. The final game of the season was definitely the most important. The whole team came together to beat a very strong West Morris team. Beau Fucci came back after being out with a broken finger and kicked a 27 yard field goal to ice the win. It was the first field goal ever kicked by the freshmen. The Freshman team had a tremendous amount of potential and is looking forward to a winning season next year on the junior varsity level and hopefully another state championship in ’87.
