In Memoriam In memory of Bobby Jack Dyer, we, the An- nual Staff, wish to dedicate our book. In so doing we place this part of a poem written by Bobby Jack which shows the great ability which was his. A CONVERSATION WITH DEATH Oh! What is this I cannot see, with icy hands taking hold of me. I am Death, none can expell. I open the door to Heaven or to Hell. Oh Death! Oh Death! If this be true, please give me time to reason with you. Oh Death! Oh Death! How can this be, when I'm not prepared for eternity. Oh Death! Oh Death! Consider my age. Please don't take me at this stage.

Courage The world you face is a new one. Yes, it is a new one in many ways. The problems you face are as new to you as the North American Continent was to the Pilgrims of 1620. You need the same traits of character to conquer the world and make a success as our forefathers needed to conquer North America. The greatest asset to any individual is courage - which means to be bold, brave, and fearless. It takes just as much courage to stand up for the right principles in peace as it does in war when people are excited over patriotism. The kind of courage we need to conquer our problems in our new life is one to meet disappointment and failure and yet keep on trying - the kind that greets each new day with a smile in spite of previous handicaps and failures. It takes courage to help our neighbors, our friends, and our foes when our aid shows our financial or professional progress. Courage does not consist of making a great effort and giving up because that effort failed to accomplish as much as you thought it should. It can be predicted by the past classes, some of us will be courageous throughout life while others will become discouraged and give up. If we will use our courage to help lift up our fellow man instead of pushing him down, we can do a lot to better the future.
