The theme was I'll Be There which was played by Sly, Slick, and the Wicked. Each class had a girl and boy repre- sentative. Glenda Willis and Gilbert Marrufo represented the Freshman class while Veronica Vaca and Joe Moreno were for the Sophomores. Representing the Junior class were Betsy Gillett and William Faulkner. Lorena Davidson and Robert Fullen had the honors of repre- senting the Seniors. The King and Queen were elected from these representatives, bringing the final result of Queen Lorena and King Robert. As the final gun sounded the score was 13-6 and the Bulldogs had won their first game of the 1970 season Cupper lefty. 128 D-Day Happiness is Winning The 58th annual D-Day Game proved to be one of the most exciting in Bulldog history. After leading Amphi for almost the entire contest Douglas found itself behind by one point with only 1 min. 14 sec. left to play. One minute later, after a number of fine plays and lucky breaks, the Dawgs scored again on an Ivan Huish to Tim Mazanek pass for the winning TD. As the final gun sounded the Bulldogs had beaten the Amphi Panthers 12-7. This last summer Myrtle Bagwell and Terri Daniel attended the ICF Workshop Qlnternational Cheerleader Foundationj at Cochise College and won first place in cheerleading. Senior Cheerleaders for the season were Qtop lefty, Frances, Myrtle, Marsha, and Rosela. The cheerleaders' activities include promoting school spirit on campus and at all football fbottom lefty, and basketball games, they bought the team members oranges and cokes, and welcome visiting schools' cheerleaders. l32 1970-71 JV Cheerleaders The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders were an active team off the field as well as on. Before any cheering could be done, numerous money-making projects had to be held in order to buy uniforms and pay other ex- penses.
