Originality, Variety, 8z Danger Reflected In Dating No matter how large the gem of DCHS stu- dent life Was, one facet of it had to include the world of dating that We all shared. Dating was common atg,DCHS, and at DCHS, common dates included concert, dinners, and even sometimes roller skating. The Worst thing about dating for many of us was the fact that in order to go anywhere or do anything, a couple had to drive into Denver. We hoped it would become a concern of Castle Rock in later years to build a youth recreation center and a movie theatre, but in 1983, there were none. So many hours were spent by tired and bleary - eyed drivers behind the Wheels of Trans-Ams rolling into Aurora. Obviously, cars became the strong point of pkg, Il.. V ' ' V. In order to get a perfect date, many guys thought that they had to buy a Corvette, a Trans-Am, or a Camaro. Although some girls also looked kindly to guys with sincerity, charm, and Wit. So even a guy with a souped-up station wagon might have had a chance to date a prom queen. With the tough economic times that beset us in late 1982 and early 1983, original dates be- came the rage. Getting lost in the mountains, going to see midnight movies, or just having a picnic became the things to do to have fun.
