Cheerleaders Boost School Spirit This year the Varsity Cheerleaders were led by Winter McKay, head and Marcie King, co-head. They began their practice as soon as school was out and at- tended a one-day clinic at Wellborn. The cheerleaders decorated the halls with spirit and signs, made colorful pep tags for the student body, and created numerous skits and routines for pep rallies. They followed the Falcons wherever they went and cheered them on in order to keep the spirit high. The cheerleaders were major contributors to making the school spirit this year the best ever. .1 Clockvvise from top: Friends forever, l Winter McKay and Margaret johnson. Let's Groove tonight. Volleyball Players Win Fifth Year Title The Varsity Volleyball team had another winning season with only one returning Senior, Captain Cathy Burke. Ienny Fry was the only other Senior on the team and all other members were Sophomores. The team was once again invited to the Bradshaw Invitational Tournament, but had no wins. They won the 1A sec- ond place title in the State tournament which was held in Montgomery this year. They were defeated only by Bayside of Mobile. This is the fifth year that the team, led by Coach Louise Mar- but, has won first or second in the State tournament. Three team members were chosen to be on the All-State team. These includ- ed Cathy Burke, Donna Burke, and Lisa Evans. Two team members were chosen for the All-County team: Cathy Burke and Lisa Evans.
