SPECOPS For most crewmembers, SPE- COPS was the roughest at-sea period they ' d ever experienced. For 33 days the weather never abated and 12-14 foot seas were the norm. The words secure for sea took on a new meaning as we found things previously thought to be firmly attached to decks being tossed about freely as the ship rolled. On the positive side, the real-world ASW training we received proved to be invalu- able in the upcoming deploy- ment.
