,jskalory Delving into the pages of history is a challenge every student enjoys. A well-rounded education at Dominican would not be complete without a visita- tion to the days of old, and so, with the expert ex- planations of our teachers, great men of yesteryear come alive. Though important dates seem always to fade into oblivion, especially at test time, the student has gone further. She has begun to appreciate the founding fathers of our country and their faith in Cod. She is deeply impressed by the need for morali- ty in civil and government affairs. YVorld History carries her back to ancient Egypt and Spartan Greece. Progress in democracy is traced through the Magna Carta down to our own Constitution. Students are jolted out of complacency by the study of current events. The terrifying World situation is presented in a clear-cut picture. Indignant at the sad affairs of the world and sparked by the flames of justice from His Sacred Heart, the Dominican girl sees her part as a leader. Yes, civics, history and current events have a prominent place in each gi1'l's life, for each must lead with the vigor of moral courage-or all our tomor- rows will be merely repeated yesterdays. l l i A Controversy arises in Sister Vero M11rif .x' YVorlrl History class as Louis Gruclzinslci points out tlu' facts and events leading to the rise anrl fall of the Napoleonic' Em. The effects of war on the 'unity of the world are narrated by C. Minch for her classnzates, IL. Brennan, M. Tool, I. Mille, G. Falango, P. Oldis as S. Margaret Mary smiles approoingly.

an fl ,f S. Mary Judith S. M. Clare Augustine eneraf gufiinefw Life is meant to be an orderly process. Though seemingly insignificant, the records administration aids Miss Dominican in reaching her goal. She learns that speed isnlt everything, but must be coupled with efliciency. In this course, the basic rules count from beginning to end. So, too, in life: the principles learned in youth are carried through adulthood. Curiosity which asks: What is business really like? finds its first answer in Introduction to Business. This general course is a whetting of the business appetite in each student. Further advancement comes with the study of Busi- ness Law. Every girl has spent a good portion of her time memorizing principles which invariably do not appear on the Regents. Then comes the balancing sub- ject-bookkeeping. Life, too, is a balance. Always, the Dominican girl keeps her accounts even with God and man. She will carry bookkeeping to the business office and thence into her personal life, always maintaining balance, harmony and order. As the saying goes: Order is heaven's first lawn. ls. ln. S. Clare Augustine smiles approuingly as eager freshmen L. Strenck, B. Keene, B. Dunne, M. Herring demonstrate their knowledge of corrct banking procedure. Their classmates M, Combader, N. Cooney, V. Stillwaggon, M. Carroll, M. Leone, P. Engel, C. Hull, G. Burchick, V. Driscoll, and E. Farkas follow the lesson in their textbooks.
