I-lall Monitors Promote Friendly Spirit HEN a few confused seventh graders or strong-minded upper-classmen stray from their intended paths of righteousness, the Hall Monitors gently, but firmly, head them back in the right direction. The monitors, even though their task is to keep students in line, have a word of greeting and a smile for everyone. This promotes a feeling of friendliness throughout the school, from seventh grade to senior class. To choose each year from among the eager dozens a group that w1ll competently fill these important positions presents a problem re quiring much thought and consideration Rowl R Mohnaro G Miller D Pye K Metzler Row2 J Eaker L Zimmerman E Iarosienski E Smlth H Lee ADVISOR MRS PORTER Student Councll Awards F1rstSc:holarsl1lp Rowl Carlson Corres Sec Spofford Sec Miller Treas G Randall Pres Demnno Vice Pres Novo gurskl Row2 Reinhardt Trumbull Randall Saltsman Jones Arthur Bladek Wilbur ADVISOR MRS FRANZ F all their many projects the one which has meant the most to the members of the Student Council has been the growth of their scholarship fund Last June s Award Day saw the ful fillment of their hopes when the first Student Council Scholarship was awarded to Joan Dunderdale versatile and popular member of the class of 1953 with David Eaker and Arthur Bahr chosen as alternates Having achieved this purpose the council 15 now aiming even higher The members hope soon to be able to award two scholarships in one senior class This aim will of course mean harder work and more persuasive sales talks longer hours and greater effort onthe part ofeach member With the sale of 1nd1v1dual pictures food at their new basketball cafeteria and the orgamza tion of Student Administration and Awards Days the 1953 54 season has been both interesting and active for our Student Council Z8 I , - : . , . , . , . .
