C H1 vi CHE Boys' Double Quartette is a newly organized group composed of Senior and junior boys who love to sing close harmony-- particularly of the barbershop type. They enjoy dressing for the occasion and are not above introducing a bit of ham to help put over their performance. Their first appear- ance of the year was at the Masonic Temple, and since then they have entertained at the annual Christmas and Spring Concerts, where they were enthusiastically received. Football FTER the undefeated dream team of the 1950 camgaign, the Blue Devil's 1 51 championship hopes were forced into a rebuilding year, since Coach Bynon had only four veterans returning to bear the load for the inexperi- enced players. While the team was compiling a record of three wins and two losses, many players were out- standing. In the quarter- back slot, left vacant by DeCarr, Deluca was masterful in running the team. He called plays with the wizardry of a veteran, his ball handling was excellent, and his b or passing proved to be the FIRST ELEVEN margin of victory in all M. Povec, P. Nagle, C. Haberek, I. MacCarthy, J. Eggleston three Of the games!! the C. Smith, K. Metzler, Coach Bynon V1Ct0l'Y COIUIUU- Aldlng A. Cuda, 1. DeLuca, R. Delaney, T. Molinaro, D. Brill Deluca at quarterback, Shorty Hayner gave a good account of himself. Returning from last year's eleven at fullback was Ant Cuda, who kept his team's touchdown marches alive, and can take a lot of the credit for this season's good record. It would be safe to say his aver- age was five or six yards per carry, excellent in any football competition. Another veteran deserving praise was halfback Ray Delaney who gained considerable yardage on neatly executed reverse plays and on nice pass catches. At the other halfback post in different games during the season were Costanza, Mortorano, Miller, and Tom Molinaro. Too much credit cannot be given the line for its inspired play against much heavier opposition in almost every game. ln the last two games of the season they completely overwhelmed Morrisville and West Winfield, and kept the offensives bottled up for most of each game. The bulwark of the line on both offense and defense, were Court Smith, Haberek, and Povec at tackles, Doug Brill, Eggleston, Pierce, Dodge, Eaker, Dunderdale, and Lyons at guards, and McCarthy at center. The ends were Metzler, Daley, Jones, and Nagle, all of whom were fast and hard charging. This year the graduation picture will be just the opposite of the 1950 season, with only seven players leaving. The departing seniors, who all played regularly, and who deserve additional glory, are Delaney, Haberek, Eggleston, Daley, Hayner, Court Smith, and Nagle. Even though this year's fortunes were not of the highest, the season should be considered a very profitable season-the forerunner of a greater season in 1952.
