Yearbook Staff N the five years since its first issue appeared in 1946, the SLIPPERTONIAN has grown from a twenty-six page, 1oose1eaf,typewritten book, devoted primarily to the activities of the Senior Class, to a sixty-four page, saddle sewed, typeset book covering every phase of school life from kindergarten to graduation. Although each of these five years made its contribution in added fea- tures or extended coverage, 1950 marked the year of greatest progress. A new feature of this is- sue was the very handsome division pages designed by our art department. But most important of all, last year for the first time, the SLIPPERTONIAN appeared in regular book binding, a bind- ing made distinctively ours through the generosity of the Daniel Green Company. We have entered the last two issues of the SLIPPERTONIAN in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association contest, and we are proud to say that again the 1950 edition scored by winning second place in national competition with 820 other books representing 44 states. The SLIPPERTONIAN is prepared in every detail, from dummy to completed paste-up, by the members of the staff. Staff members decide on the materials to be included, plan the layout of each page, arrange the photographic schedule and work directly with the photographer at all times, prepare, edit, and type all copy on special paper, and working to one thirty-second of an inch, mount all the materials on the master sheets to conform with the original layout. It takes an av- erage of sixty-four extra-curricular hours per staff member to put an issue of the SLIPPER- TONIAN in the hands of our printers. But the life of a staff member is not all work. The 1950 staff concluded their year with a dinner party at the Manor, and at that time received their C.S.P.A. pins. For the first time in the history of the SLIPPERTONIAN, five senior editors attended the annual E.S.S.P.A. convention held in Syracuse last October. Here they saw and learned more about yearbook publication than they realized possible. With the knowledge gained there, and a desire for a better and more com- plete yearbook, it is their wish to make the work of this year top all preceeding years. .gmail SENIORS GIVE H o Place To Parkn ITH the majority of the Senior Class in attendance, the tryouts for the 1951 play brought forth all the talent that the class had to offer. The cast of sixteen characters was cho sen after considerable deliberation, and the rehearsals were immediately scheduled for four nights of the week. Since this book is being published before the production of the play, little can be said about its success. However, if the finished product is as excellent as the play in the making, 1951 will be a memorable year for the play-goers of the community 'K CAST 'K Orvie McCormick --------- --- Ronald Gaetano Beanie McCormick --- --- Regina Stankevitz Scotty McCormick - -- Holly McCormick --- ---- ----Harold DeCarr --- ---- D ayton Griffith Pepper Swanson ---- Andrew McPherson Clayton Underwood Mr. Barrett ------ Burp Barrett --- Fido ------------- Miss McPherson -- The Deputy ------ Pete -------- Sally ------ Bert --- -- --- - Donna Borst - - - Beverly Nichols -- - --- - Barbara Dolge --------Nicholas Miller - - Charles Weinschreider - -- - - - - Richard Metzler - - - - - - Veronica Miller -- - - Roy Stonesifer - -- Salvatore Musella -------Alma Dodge - - - - Robert Tanner PRODUCTION STAFF Managers Business--Pat Pugliese Stage--Dean Galusha Pwperty--Janet Lill Costumes--Sally Puguese Advertising--Rose LeClaire Lighting-M Louis Antonucci Assistants: Dale Smith, Marion Pye, Lura Lyons Director: Miss Klug 46
