QJ ef The special weeks here were a joyful time for all. Christmas and Spirit week certainly fol- lowed this. The activities of the Old Fa- shioned Christmas added the feeling of good tidings to everyone. As always, the international Christmas was a huge success. With tablecloths and candles, the candlelight luncheon was an elegant addition to the lunch hour. The decorative tree added the perfect touch to the school with the dance being the most exciting part of all. When spirit rolled around, we were ready for it! The contests proved the seniors had the most spirit, while the other events, such as the car bash and the DHS World Records, filled all with spirit. Both of these weeks will be remembered as a time of excitement and IOY- 28 Christmas Week

Time f r r m mee Hrnn Fun and romance were the main ingredi- ents of the 1979-80 dances at Doherty. There were ten dances during the year with all kinds of music and all kinds of costumes. Students wore everything from tuxedoes to blue jeans and, believe it or not, cowboy hats! Each month, a dance was held representing a special holiday or week designated by the student council. In September, there was a very successful dance for Welcome Back Week. Home- coming was a fabulous formal dance where Karen Ricketts was crowned Homecoming Queen. In December, the Christmas dance was a spectacular event. A huge Christmas tree was set up in the cafeteria with lights sparkling on every- one. During the dance, Dawn Gonzales was crowned Snow Queen. All in all, the dances of the class of '80' turned out to be one highlight of the year. 50 Dances V M S l f
