Ill lll pcartom JQMIE Wuwef an A new type of week for Doherty, Li'l Abner Week, was brought about through Student Council. The week contained many interesting events, leaving it funfilled. The week started off with a wedding, which introduced the candidates running for Li'l Abner. The following day, everyone Dressed Down, thus causing a lot of fun and many laughs. At the end of the week, the junior Class sponsored a grub dance, whereupon Lee Kelly was crowned Li'l Abner King! On the following Monday eve, Li'l Abner week's biggest event took place, The Tal- ent Show. Many people participated, with their various acts and talents. First place went to Leslie Simpson, who sang her way through, With One More Look at You , along with Watch Closely Now. Taking second was Christian Miller, and his Magic Act. Sheryl Brown, and Robert Faulk, sang a duet on Money , from Caberet. The show proved worth- while, making the week fun, and one to be remembered for a long time. wig' .. semi! wt, 7

Many students feel down when starting back to school, but when Doherty's student council sponsored a Welcome Back Week, the first week of classes weren't so bad. The biggest event of the week was the Battle of the Sexes. Congratulations are due to the guys, who successfully beat the gals with a score of 107 to 106. Friday, there was a spirited pep rally, which was set off with the band march- ing its way through the halls. The week was then ended with the truly fantastic Midnight-Magic Dance. 'Y

QJ ef The special weeks here were a joyful time for all. Christmas and Spirit week certainly fol- lowed this. The activities of the Old Fa- shioned Christmas added the feeling of good tidings to everyone. As always, the international Christmas was a huge success. With tablecloths and candles, the candlelight luncheon was an elegant addition to the lunch hour. The decorative tree added the perfect touch to the school with the dance being the most exciting part of all. When spirit rolled around, we were ready for it! The contests proved the seniors had the most spirit, while the other events, such as the car bash and the DHS World Records, filled all with spirit. Both of these weeks will be remembered as a time of excitement and IOY- 28 Christmas Week
