'-I 'J' rn oo O CD 198 Seniors The styles today change as fast as the weather does. From the constant scene of Levi originals to the latest in cosmopoli- tan fashions. Levi's and velour shirts seemed to be a perfect pair. With the addition of tennis shoes the outfit was Complete. Girls went for the soft, feminine look which melted each man's heart. The pleated skirt, socks and low-heeled shoes made an excellent example. Skirts made the big show, along with the ever-so- popular blazer. The movie 10 with Bo Derek brought out a new style in hair. Not everyone had as many braids as she did, but a few added a difference. Shorter hair for guys has been in for a few years. The clean Cut look always gets more votes. With the birth of disco, sparkles and shines appeared. It seemed the more you could flash on the floor the more dances you had. It's a wonder there weren't more broken legs dancing on those toothpick- like shoes. Between the return of past styles and inventions of new ones, no one really knows where fashion will go. But this past year at Doherty the students showed that they can be fashionable, even if it isn't New York.

Do you remember stopping at the gas station for gas? You were probably there three times a week. It was a never ending battle. You would just get your check cashed and it was all gone after a couple of gallons. The best thing to do was to shop around for the cheapest gas. By the time you finished looking you were out of gas and had to stop at the most expensive. Convenience stores seemed the cheapest but their gas was also the cheapest kind. After it killed your engine you had to pay for one of those also. No more cruising Nevada, no more spur of the moment skiing trips, and short distance dates. The life of a teenager is the pits. What is a car without gas! Ayatollah! I wonder what your tan line looks like. The Iran crisis had been the ridicule of 1980. 50 American people were held hos- rage. This year could possibly be the year of the draft. Women would have to go also. Not since the early seventies would the draft be re- vived. The terror of Iran will be history in a couple of decades, but right now we have to live with it. This coming fall, this senior class will have the chance to vote. This is a very important decision to make but very few people take it seriously. Let's take a look at the candidates. There is always President Carter. At least his brother makes good beer. Ronald Reagan. Let's face it. He couldn't even act well. Sen. Brown from Calif. At least he has good taste in music. As you can see, there isn't a whole lot to choose from. Therefore, I suggest my vote for Mr. Bill. Owooo! Seniors 199
