G- Hail Upper Classman Sl So Big and Strong You are always right And we are always wrong . . On Sophomore Day, September l8, l947, the landscape around D. C. S. H. S. was dotted with sophomores on bended knee repeating this little verse to the upperclassmen. The Sophomore class of that year was the largest ever to enter D. C. S. H. S. lt is the beginning of the end when orders for cap and gowns and an- nouncements are taken . . . graduation pictures are exchanged, and students look forward to the winning of one of many scholarships being offered. Led by the five class officers, Earl Weiss, president, Max Ames, vice president, Veleeta Anders, secretary, Freddy Bayless, treasurer, and Ruth Henry, student council representative, this senior class has amazed the entire school by their ceaseless activity. The spark which kindled the blaze of energy was the resolution to have a senior as carnival queen . . . not only was senior Veleeta Anders elected carnival queen, but her attendants Mildred Ruder, Lois Cox, Iris McKinley and Jean Massey were also seniors. The impressive crowning of the football queen, Eloise McCracken, and her two senior attendants, Kathryn Blickle, and Patty Lembright added much color to the years activities. The impressive Baccalaureate Services on May added a note of dignity to the year's activities and gave the future alumni a look at what the future holds for them. As a grand finale, seniors donned the garb of graduates and went to receive their degrees with a note of solemnity and maybe a tear shed for the Good ol' school days .
