H. S. had a fair football season 'during the year 1934, winning four games, losing three, and tying two. In an interview with Chief Toalson, the following description was given of his team: I think we had one of the best teams we have had for years. There were more re- serves in the line, and the strongest back- field for some time. We had the best team and the toughest breaks. Handicaps kept us from doing better in some of the games, such as injuries in the backfield, etc. l also think that had we had full strength and even breaks in each game, possibly we would have had an all victorious season. Ck The first game of the season opened suc- cessfully for the Demons as the Meade eleven bowed to their hosts 27 to 0. Three counters were tallied by Dewell, half back. Clarence Hamby eased three extra points between the bars to set off the scores. It was in this game that Wimer, small half back, earned the nickname Une Play Wimer as he made a touchdown on the first play called after he had gone in. The linemen were clicking in fine shape. At Wichita North the Demons were out- classed by five touchdowns, 39 to 6. Although favored to win they were not able to with- stand the attack of the Indians. Consistent
