There was no elimination. Each debated every other team in the district on the question, Resolved: That federal legislation should be enacted em- bodying the principles of the McNary-Haugen bill as passed by the sixty- ninth Congress, second session. Class A was composed of six teams: Pratt, Liberal, Larned, Garden City, Kinsley and Dodge City. Pratt won out in the twelfth district. Dodge City High debaters who won letters are: Robert Miller, Senior, third year on the team: Cleo Gilbert, Junior, first year: Gordon Walters, Sophomore, first year: Zelma Zimmer, Sophomore, first year 1 Audrey Smith, Senior, second year: Harold Wolking, Senior, first year: Marjorie Van Hiliber, Junior, first year. Leora Ann VVooten, Senior, first year, was on the squad but did not debate. The team lacked the experience which opposing teams seemed to pos- sess. but this year's practice will be beneficial in strengthening the material for next year. . Repor't of iGirl Rleserve The Girl Reserve is a national organization, the younger branch of the Y. M. C. A. Their purpose is to find and give the best. This organization has more members this year than has any preceding year. In everything that was undertaken, the girls were very successful. The Club opened the year with an impressive fire festival , the in- itiation. Other activities were: Dodge City was hostess to one of the six state conferences, which was held December 4, 5, 6. The outstanding events of the conference were, banquet and ceremonial service. An annual carnival, the Batty Blow Out, was given in order to send delegates to Estes Park. Not only did the players of the team have the fight in every game but were good sports which made them popular in this end of the State. The Red Demons which is the ofiicial name adopted this year by Dodge, started out the season's practice yvith twelve letter-men reporting and approximately forty men for new material each of which proved to be a real football player. The first game was played with Bucklin. The season was a very successful one, from all angles. In the Santa Fe league Dodge won nine games and lost one. This was the third year for Dodge to win the Santa Fe league. The Red Demons won two games from Spearville 30-10 there and 33-11 here. They also won both games from Stafford 27-21 there and 44-lo here. After a hard frame with Kinsley we finally won 22-17 here and 20-20 there. The closest game of the season was at larned endin 16-14 in Dodges favor but the game here was much different ending '36-12. Dodge broke even with Great Bend winning the first game there 26-19 and losing here 26-23. This was the only game lost by the R-d Demons in the lea 'ue. No school tournament was held here, but Fred Ruby and Lee Schaffer were chosen to repre- sent Dodge at the Cimarron Meet. Both Ruby and Schaffer learned the game while caddying on the local Country Club Links and surprised all by the ability and skill dis- played. At the Cimarron tournament Ruby and Schaf- fer were matched in the finals and played the last four of the eighteen holes in a drizzling rain. Schaffer scored T3 and Ruby 72, making Ruby the winner of the tournament for which he received a fitting trophy.
