Who's on your side- lines ? This sports lingo heard throughout the counseling deportment didn't pertain to football players—it was a new pro- gram started to help those students who might have been afraid to bring their problems to a counselor. Who's on your sidelines?” included such topics as sui- cide. drugs, alcohol, child abuse and eating disorders. However, this program wasn't the only job counsel- ors did. They faced the tasks of group career-unit presen- tations, night-time scholar- ship and financial aid pre- sentations, group counseling and student schedules. Although it sounded like a great deal of hard work, ac- cording to Bob Merlene, head counselor, it did have at least one worthwhile re- ward: The gratification of having a student leave here as a better person because of some minute contribution I may have made, and hov- ing them say, 'Thank you' he said.
