Soccer Winging It Birds have been known to talk but can they tell their wings to take a few laps and then hit the showers? It's possi- ble if the varsity soccer coach is giving the orders. It was like a fresh start for the varsity team with a new coach and only five re- turning seniors. Team effort and a posi- tive attitude were stressed by Coach Bird who commented that their team motto was Let's get ‘unitized’.” The JV team was very strong-willed, expressing the desire to excel and win. Their slight weaknesses were easily made up for through teamwork and constant communication on the field during a game. Coach Kappas explained that one phrase the team always remembered was that A winner never quits and a quit- ter never wins. Design by Janice McConnell and Ashley Arnold. Photos by Gwen Gregory.
